What Your Favourite Tape Says About You

Tell the velociraptor your favourite tape and he will tell you who you are. This is not science. This is barely an opinion. But he insists, and he has no thumbs to do anything more useful with his time, so here we are. Find your genre below and receive your reading.

Horror

You are calmer than everyone else in a crisis and it unsettles them. You seek out the worn ex-rental copy over the pristine one because the wear is proof it was loved and feared. You are the person who checks whether the noise downstairs is a burglar and comes back mildly disappointed that it was the cat.

Action

You have strong feelings about which film is or is not a Christmas movie (it is). You quote things at inappropriate moments. You once rewound the same explosion four times and considered it time well spent. You are, at heart, an optimist, because you genuinely believe one determined person can fix any situation with enough effort and a vest.

Comedy

You are the glue of your friend group and you know the good bits by heart, which you will now recite whether asked or not. You have worn the tape thin at exactly one scene. People feel better after spending time with you, which is more than most tapes can say.

Sci-fi

You read the back of the box before anyone else in the family and you have Opinions about the future. You own at least one tape purely for the world-building, plot optional. You are quietly certain you were born a hundred years too early, and also, somehow, forty years too late, which balances out.

Romance

You are the most emotionally honest person in the room and you are not ashamed of the tissues. You rewind to the airport scene deliberately. You believe, correctly, that a fixed runtime and a happy ending you already know is coming is one of life's great comforts.

Kids' animation (a Black Diamond Disney, specifically)

You are convinced it is worth ten thousand dollars. It is worth about a dollar. We love you. Do not check the sold listings today. Today is not the day.

Disclaimer: the velociraptor is not a licensed practitioner of anything, has never met you, and is mostly guessing. Consult your tapes, not him.
