VHS Velociraptor is a loving tribute to a dead format, wrapped in the web design of a year that has also, technically, passed away.
Here is the whole idea. Once upon a time, if you wanted to watch a film at home, you got in the car, drove to a shop, wandered the aisles reading the backs of boxes, discovered the one you wanted was already rented out, argued about it, and took home something with a lurid cover instead. Then you realised nobody had rewound it, and you waited. It was slower, clunkier and worse in every measurable way, and a great many of us miss it enormously.
That is what this site is for. It is a catalogue of the movies that raised us - the ones with the worn-out spines, the tracking lines, and the trailers you could not skip. We list them the way an over-enthusiastic video shop clerk would, we point you at the one place on Earth you can still actually buy them (eBay, because every real video shop is now a Starbucks), and we do the whole thing in the eye-searing style of a 1998 GeoCities page, because that is roughly when a lot of this stuff was at its best.
Is it useful? Occasionally. Is it accurate? The eBay links are; the prices are a joke. Is it a nice excuse to look back at the tapes you grew up with and feel something warm and slightly dusty? That is the entire point. Nostalgia is the only format that never wears out.
So grab a letter, pick a category, or just scroll through the lot. Be kind. Rewind.
